Current vacancies

Oversee borrowing at the library and keep our operation running
Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week/fortnight during our opening hours - Tuesdays 4-6, Thursdays 10-12, Saturdays 10-1.
Desirable qualities: Good organisational skills, happy to talk to our members, comfortable using online library systems.
Duties include:
Greeting and talking to our customers.
Helping people take out memberships and reserve items to borrow.
Checking items in and out and ensuring all parts are returned.
Organising, cataloguing and storing items within the Library of Things.
Helping run the library and reservation system.

Keep our Library of Things stock in good working condition for borrowing
Time commitment: 2 hours per week
Desirable qualities: A DIY or repair enthusiast, handy with tools. Familiar with PAT testing or willing to be trained.
Duties include:
Providing basic maintenance repair and PAT testing on library items.
Acquiring parts via donation or purchase to support repairs.
Seeking support from local repair workshops for assistance with repairs where needed.

We are planning to start running monthly Repair Cafés to help local people fix broken items rather than throw them away.
We’re looking for people with repair skills who are willing to volunteer for 2-3 hours, once a month on a Saturday morning as Repairers.
If you like to repair things and have skills in repairing electrical and electronic products, wooden and metal items, furniture, jewellery, watches/clocks, pottery, woollens, clothing, or anything else, we would love to hear from you.
Help us reduce waste, repair and reuse more.

Be a friendly face to Repair Café visitors and help the event run smoothly
Time commitment: 2-3 hours on the final Saturday morning of a month
Desirable qualities: Good organisational skills, happy to talk to visitors, adaptability working as part of a team
Duties may include:
Greeting visitors and pointing them in the right direction.
Checking in items for repair and making visitors aware of Skipton Repair Café rules.
Helping the café crew or looking after our eco-refill station.

Communicate with our followers and demonstrate what Share Skipton is all about
Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week
Desirable qualities: Creativity, Social media literacy. Familiar with editing software e.g. Canva Pro
Duties include:
Developing and scheduling engaging social media posts across our platforms.
Responding to social media enquiries.
Collaborating with the team to produce content promoting Share Skipton.

Be our friendly voice, connecting Share Skipton with our community
Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week
Desirable qualities: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience managing various communication channels.
Duties include:
Creating content for newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.
Coordinating outreach efforts to engage the local community in Skipton.
Managing communication channels including email, website updates and announcements.
