Membership
You must first become a member before borrowing with Share Skipton.
Included in our membership is access to all of our library items, many of which are free to borrow, as well as borrowing credit which can be used towards the borrowing cost of the things you borrow.
Membership tiers
We offer three options for membership, see below for the details of each.
The membership fee is an annual fee and lasts for 12 months. In addition to the membership fee, each item in the Library of Things also has a borrowing fee every time it’s borrowed, although many items are free. The stated borrowing fee for each item is shown in the Library.
Concession tier:

£5 per year
Item borrowing cost:
You pay 50% of the stated borrowing fees
What you get:
50% off the stated borrowing fees
Access to 600+ items, including 70+ free-to borrow items
£3 credit added to your account when you join and each year you renew your membership
Standard tier:
Price:
£10 per year
Item borrowing cost:
You pay the stated borrowing fees
What you get:
Access to 600+ items, including 70+ free-to borrow items
£3 credit added to your account when you join and each year you renew your membership
Supporter tier:

£15-50+ per year
Item borrowing cost:
You pay the stated borrowing fees
What you get:
Access to 600+ items, including 70+ free-to borrow items
£3 credit added to your account when you join and each year you renew your membership, for each £10 you pay for membership (e.g. £9 credit if you pay £30 a year)
Your higher annual membership fee helps Share Skipton be able to offer concession memberships
Notes on membership:
Our Supporter memberships allow Share Skipton to remain affordable to all whilst helping cover some of our operating costs. This helps support our Concession memberships.
Concession memberships are available for those who may struggle to afford our Standard or Supporter memberships. We offer concession memberships on a trust-basis and do not expect members to declare or prove their financial background to us.
If you’d like any clarification on our membership, don’t hesitate to email us at hello@shareskipton.org or visit us 48 Newmarket Street, Skipton to ask us in person.

Each time you borrow, when you come to the shop to collect your item, we’ll ask you to sign our Liability Waiver and Indemnification form.
How do I renew my membership?
Membership lasts for one year. You can decide if your membership renews automatically or not by going into your account on MyTurn, selecting ‘Current Membership’ and then clicking ‘Enabled’ or ‘Disable’ under ‘Automatic Renewal.’
If you select automatic renewal, you will receive an email one week before the renewal date, informing you that your membership is about to be renewed automatically.
If automatic renewal is disabled, you will receive reminder emails from us in the last month of your membership, asking if you would like to renew. If you choose to renew, then your new membership will automatically run from the expiry date, not the date you renew.
When you renew your membership, any credit on your account will be used to discount the membership fee. Please note, if your membership expires, then any remaining credit on your account will be lost.
Can I gift membership to someone?
You can! Share Skipton gift certificates are a great way to help friends and loved ones to embrace sharing and sustainability, while saving them money as they can borrow many of the things they need instead of buying them. Starting at just £5, you can choose and amount and gift money towards borrowing items or a year’s membership. Buy them from us at 48 Newmarket Street in Skipton, or via our Library of Things online.
Can I see what's in the Library of Things before becoming a member?
Yes, absolutely!
